Pure Data – Data is Beautiful

I know what you’re thinking – how can something like data be beautiful? It’s just charts and infographics and numbers! There’s absolutely nothing beautiful about that! And, well, that’s where you’re wrong. Sure, data alone, numbers aligned on some kind of boring white sheet, can only ever be beautiful to a mathematician. But data on a chart or on a map, data portrayed simply, yet so very efficiently, data which has a point to it, which can speak and resonate with whoever’s viewing it, data that tells us something important about a subject that we care about. That is when data, and information in general, can truly shine and become beautiful.

Hi, my name is Data (yes, the title is a little masturbatory, what are you gonna do about it?), and, like my name suggests, I’m absolutely in love with beautiful, pure data. Whether it’s an infographic about where the money goes during a business investment or a map that lists the most Googled terms by country, all sorts of visual data like that is wonderful to me, and that’s why I decided to create this blog! On here I’ll be showcasing graphs, charts, maps and other forms of data visualization that I personally find beautiful, about all sorts of topics, from Internet-related (social media, online gambling, videogames) to physical ones (history, geography, space). My goal is to prove to anyone who, for whatever reason, decided to check out my blog that data is, indeed, beautiful, and that the right chart or infographic can completely change or even blow your mind in regards to a certain subject. I hope that, after a while, I’ll be able to convince you to agree with me!
